Mumbling Mommy

Do you feel as though you have been struggling with your health as of late? If so then now is the time for you to make a change. After all, if you don’t take care of yourself now, then you may find that this has huge consequences in the future.

Don’t Change Everything At Once

If you are concerned about your health then you may be tempted to change everything at once. This could be your weight, your job, your money or even your family. This is unrealistic. Sometimes, the more you try and do, the less able you are to make the right changes and everyone can suffer as a result of this. If you want to help yourself then the first thing you need to do is make a list of everything you want to change. You then need to think about how each item on your list impacts the other. Arrange the list into priority order, and set goals that are both tangible and achievable. You might say that you want to lose 10bs by summer for example. If you can look at this commitment on a  daily basis then you will be on the path to success in no time.

Create a New Habit

Another thing you need to do is try and create a new behaviour. If you want to lose 10lbs as suggested previously, then you may want to do this by cleaning up your diet, or by exercising. This is the fastest and most effective way for you to see a result. If you can change your habits so that they facilitate your goals then this will help you out a lot, and it will make it easier for you to get the result you are going for.

Change your Environment

If you can change your environment then this will help you out a lot. If you want to lose weight and get healthier then you will need to stock your kitchen and your pantry with healthy food. Go through everything and take note of each item. One by one, categorise them into three groups. You need foods that are healthy, foods that you aren’t so sure about and finally, foods that are not good for you at all. You can use your smartphone or your computer to look up foods that you might not be sure about. You can also decide whether or not they go into the category of being unhealthy or healthy.

Small Changes Add Up

If possible, you need to park your car so you have to walk a bit further. Don’t waste time hunting for the perfect parking spot and take the stairs over the elevator. Think of each step as being a calorie that you can burn. Ditch the drinks and also drink water where possible. There have been a lot of studies done in the past and they show that diet drinks can make you hungrier. If you want to work around this then make a diet plan that you can commit to. If you can do this then you will soon find that things work in your favour.

When You Do Slip

It is inevitable that you will slip up from time to time. There are times when you will make changes that are not good for you. You may grab a sugary dessert or you may skip a few days of your workout. One of the hardest things to do is forgive yourself. Move back into your best behaviours where you can and also make sure that you don’t overcompensate to undo the damage you have done.

Schedule New Habits

How do you make sure that you follow through with what you have planned? Remember that first of all, you are making a commitment. You will be making a commitment to yourself more than anything. This is not to be taken lightly either. Are you strong enough to follow through with what you have told yourself? Set reminders every day for what you want to commit to and make sure that you make a plan for it. If you want to eat more vegetables then buy a smoothie maker and make a fruit blend up for yourself before you go to work. If you can do this then you will soon find that it is easier for you to get the result you are going for.

Be More Active

If you want to make your health a priority then one thing you can try to do is be more active. Try and make the effort to get out more and also make sure that you are taking steps to walk more. If you can do this then you will benefit your health way more than you realise. If you are having a hard time being more active then try and recruit a friend or a family member to keep you accountable. The great thing about having someone work with you is that they will keep you going and they will motivate you when you struggle too. If you struggle with your mobility or if you feel as though you need a bit of extra help during the day then one thing you can do is look into assisted living apartments. This is a great way for you to boost your health and it is also a good way for you to get the support you are looking for.

Drink Water

There is a high chance that you don’t drink enough water during the day. If this sounds like you then it is so important that you make a change here. Try and make the effort to take a water bottle with you when you go out, and commit to drinking 8 glasses a day. If you can do this then you will soon be able to see a difference. Dehydration is bad for your body and it can also make you feel tired and groggy during the day. By increasing your water intake, you will soon find that it’s easier to feel better within yourself, while supporting new habits you may be trying to adopt.
