This gooey monster cookie recipe I found online from Lil’ Luna is amazing! My kids and I had a blast making them and the finished cookies taste out of this world. These cookies make the perfect Halloween or Monster-themed birthday party treat. The food coloring makes the cookies vibrant and fun!

Aren’t the cookies cute?

If you have your eyes peeled for a spooky yet silly dessert AND a learning activity to do with your kids, you have found winner right here.

Gooey Monster Cookie Recipe

Ingredients:

1 stick of butter, softened
1/2 teaspoon of vanilla
1 8-oz. bar of softened cream cheese
1 egg
1 white cake mix box
powdered sugar
Food coloring (I opted for neon gel food coloring. The Betty Crocker package we use comes with hot pink, purple, bright orange, and neon green)
Candy eyeballs (I used Betty Crocker brand, located in the baking aisle at Walmart)

Directions:

Mix the butter, cream cheese, egg and vanilla with blender until fluffy.

Add in the white cake mix until blended.

Divide the batter into bowls so you can use different food coloring for each mixture (I had four different colors, so I used four bowls).

Add the food coloring to each bowl and mix with cookie dough mixture until combined. My kids loved watching the dough change colors as we mixed it with the coloring.

Chill in the refrigerator for around 30 minutes.

Roll the chilled dough into balls, then sprinkle with powdered sugar. Place the cookie dough on a greased cookie sheet and gently pat down the dough to flatten a little bit.

Bake the cookies at 350 degrees for 10-13 minutes. While the cookies are warm, add the candy eyeballs.

These cookies are a blast to make and perfect for little helping hands! The recipe makes approximately 24 cookies. I hope you and your kids enjoy making — and eating — these gooey and delicious monster cookies this Halloween or at an upcoming birthday party. You guests will love them, too!
