At Mumbling Mommy, we like to support people who help children and families. Since we began our quarterly charity feature more than a year ago, we have highlighted organizations such as Alex’s Lemonade Stand, Operation Christmas Child, Nurses for Newborns, and Doctors Without Borders. We are pleased to announce that we will be featuring the charity Action Against Hunger during the months of April, May, and June. Here are a few brief facts from their website:
- Action Against Hunger works in more than 40 countries providing emergency assistance in situations that involve natural disasters, conflicts, and chronic food insecurity. They operate programs that focus on nutrition, food security and livelihoods, and water, sanitation, and hygiene. They also seek to help communities become self sufficient.
- The organization has more than 30 years of experience helping in emergencies, with 5,000 field staff who aid more than 7 million people each year.
- Action Against Hunger states child malnutrition is predictable (they usually know when and where it will strike), preventable, and treatable, and that treatment is affordable. Just $45 can provide a child with life-saving treatment.
- Read more about specific projects in which Action Against Hunger is involved at their blog.
- You can support Action Against Hunger here. For upcoming Mother’s Day, you can purchase a gift such as therapeutic food for a child or a dairy goat for a family in need in honor of your loved one.
