With the New Year off to a running start, it’s time to continue with our newest feature at Mumbling Mommy. We have committed to donate a portion of the proceeds from our advertising revenue to a different charity that supports children or families every quarter. From January through March, we’ll be supporting Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation.

Here are a few quick facts from Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation ‘s website:

  • Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation began when 4 year-old cancer patient Alexandra “Alex” Scott held a lemonade stand in her front yard to raise money to help children with cancer. Alex died in 2004, but her legacy lives on through the foundation.
  • Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation seeks to raise awareness about childhood cancer and supports research into treatments and cures. The foundation especially encourages children to help make a difference for other children with cancer. Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation will provide support for children, individuals, businesses, and other organizations who want to hold their own lemonade stands to raise funds. Those interested may simply make a donation online as well.
  • The Foundation has supported research projects at 78 leading hospitals around the country.
  • Approximately 90 cents out of every dollar donated goes toward research to find a cure for childhood cancers.
Editors’ Note: Mumbling Mommy supports charities that have a four-star rating at charitynavigator.org.
