I guess having guilty pleasures is part of what makes life fun, right? Well I have a few myself and today I’ll share those with you. No judgment, okay? Here are some of my favorite guilty pleasures.
My Top Guilty Pleasures
Eating sugary foods & drinking coffee for breakfast
Yes, I realize breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Breakfast fuels your body and gives you the energy you need for the day. I know that. And I can’t help that I still want junk for breakfast. After years of eating oatmeal, I can’t stomach it and crave foods such as cinnamon rolls and blueberry muffins paired with a steaming hot cup of coffee (with a large helping of Caramel Macchiato creamer). I do try to eat healthy and encourage my kids to do so, but sometimes I have to treat myself. I don’t want to be a hypocritical parent, so I focus on eating healthy most of the time, and that occasional treats are allowed.
Reality shows
Don’t hate me. I love some TV shows that I’m not proud to admit. First off, since Newlyweds (starring Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey) ended many years ago (tear) I’ve never really found a show that compared. The closest runner up was Kendra, the former

Playboy bunny turned mom who married NFL player Hank Baskett and began their life together with their son, Hank Jr. Apparently I was alone on this one because it only lasted three seasons. Now when I decide I want to fill my mind with garbage, I indulge in Keeping up the Kardashians, but it doesn’t even compare. Did I just lose some readers with these confessions? Hope not.
“Bad” music
I am not sure what it is about it, but I like music with a good beat. I like rap, dance and party music. One of my favorite things to do when there’s a break in family time and I am alone in the car (can’t listen to this stuff with my little parrots in the backseat) is put my windows down and blare music by Kanye West, Jay Z and other rap artists. Even though I am a parent, this type of music still puts me in a good mood!
Dipping sauces
I dip most any food you give me in some kind of sauce, and a lot of it. My friends think it’s hilarious and more than once have offered me a straw (for the sauce, not my drink). Pizza isn’t quite the same without garlic butter, I eat practically an entire jar of salsa in one sitting and I love extra wing sauce and ranch with my BW3’s orders. You name the sauce; I probably like it and probably consume about eight times the serving size listed on the bottle.
Yup, I’m a junkie. I love it! I enjoy keeping up with friends, past and present, seeing people pictures of their wedding or new baby and reading about people’s day-to-day life. I know I’m not alone on this one! Facebook makes life better for parents.
My cell phone
While I am new to the land of the smart phone, I’m not new to texting. I can text without looking at the buttons on my phone, anywhere, faster than anyone should be able to do such a thing. I love my cell phone; I feel my anxiety levels soar when I realize I’ve left the house without it, or in those moments right before the battery goes dead. With that being said, I try to make it a point, and have focused even more on this goal in the last month or two, to not be so attached to my phone. Texting is the main way I keep up with my friends, but I’m home with my kids and they’re my first priority.
