Mumbling Mommy

Whatever you may want to celebrate, whether it’s Halloween or Christmas, there’s always a reason to host a great holiday party. With some great holidays around the corner, including the upcoming holiday weekend for Labor Day in the US, have you thought of planning anything?

Parties on holiday weekends can be so much fun, but of course, hosting one is something unique. However, throwing a party that is a success can be a great way to spend time with friends, so consider these tips for hosting a successful party on a holiday weekend:

Have fun with the décor

Décor can make a world of difference in a party, so have fun with it. Whether you get Halloween flowers to decorate for Halloween or you set up your yard with a theme for Labor Day, go all out with décor on the holidays to create a fun and celebratory environment, regardless of the holiday.

Give friends enough notice about the party

Have you ever tried to throw a party but find that on the day of the event, you don’t have as many guests as you had planned? How far in advance did you invite people to join? Some people may be unable to make an event without weeks of notice, so if you really want to see your friends there at your event, consider sending out cute party invitations well in advance.

Prepare a menu before shopping

To make sure you have everything you need to prepare your snacks and food for your holiday party, make sure you plan out the menu beforehand. For holidays like Halloween or Thanksgiving, it’s fun to have a meal or snacks that stay in theme with the holiday

Making a menu helps ensure you don’t forget a thing when preparing the meal. Or, if you already have too much on your plate, consider hiring a caterer for the event.

Ask your friends to bring something

An option for your party’s snacks and drinks is to ask everyone to bring something to the party. While you’ll want to plan the menu in advance to make sure that you have something to offer guests, asking friends to also bring food for a potluck can help to decrease the stress of preparing food and drink for all the guests.

As the host, it’s best to be prepared with enough should you need it, but you don’t have to provide all the food for everyone if you don’t feel up to it. Potlucks are common and a fun way to connect over shared recipes.

Put together a playlist

Music can make or break a party, there’s no doubt about it. Make your party one that will be remembered by making a playlist that will have everyone enjoying themselves. Whether you’re all about Latin music with bachata and salsa as your go-to music or you prefer two-stepping or the waltz, it’s your party and you can play the music you want to.

Music connects people and helps them be in the moment, so come up with a great playlist on Spotify before you get the party started.

While throwing a holiday party can be stressful and does take time and planning, it can also be a great way to connect and bond with your friends and loved ones and go down as a party that your guests will remember for years to come.

From the music to the menu, take some time to plan it out. But, when the party happens, let your hair down and have a blast. Your friends are bound to have a great time if you enjoy yourself!
