This recipe is amazing! It’s a really great alternative to one of my favorites, green bean casserole with French fried onions.  I found this recipe on plainchicken.com and love it because it’s simple, delicious and includes one of my favorite foods: BACON!

This smothered green beans with bacon recipe is easy to follow and takes just a few ingredients and practically no time (other than cooking the bacon). It’s foolproof! My favorite kind of recipe!

Smothered green beans with bacon recipe ingredients:

5 cans of (drained) green beans
1 lb. bacon
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup of butter, melted
1/4 cup soy sauce (low-sodium is great, too) *I use a little less because I prefer to taste more of the brown sugar.
1 tsp garlic powder

Smothered green beans with bacon directions:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Pour five cans of drained green beans into a 9 x 13 inch baking dish. Cook the bacon until almost done but not yet crispy. Drain the bacon on a paper towel and break into pieces. Spread the bacon out on top of the green beans.

Mix together the brown sugar, butter, soy sauce, and garlic powder. Pour the mixture evenly over the green beans and bacon.

Bake for approximately 40 minutes.

Serves 10.

This recipe adds flare to any holiday party, great for pitch-in dinners and perfect to serve at home (just halve the recipe if you don’t want a lot of leftovers). Hope you enjoy it!
