Ah, Valentine’s Day. Love is in the air and this year you are going on a special Valentine’s Day date – but you also probably want a tasty and easy recipe to make with the kids. It’s time that you looked no further. These Heart-Shaped Rice Krispy Treats are simple and fun to make and any kid will love it.

Heart-Shaped Rice Krispy Treats

What you need:

Our heart-shaped rice krispy treat,
topped with red M&M’s.
  • 6 cups of mini marshmallows
  • 9 cups of Rice Krispies cereal
  • 3 tablespoons of margarine
  • heart-shaped cookie cutter
  • cooking spray
  • red food coloring, red candy or red sprinkles

Directions:

Spray a 9×12 pan with cooking spray and place it aside. Melt the margarine and marshmallows on high for 2 minutes in a microwave-safe bowl. Stir to combine and heat one minute longer. Stir butter and marshmallows until mixture is smooth. If you plan to add red food coloring, this is the time to do so. Once it’s reached the color you desire, add cereal and stir until well coated. Use lightly buttered hands to press mixture into the sprayed pan. When cool, use a heart-shaped cookie cutter to make heart-shaped treats. If you don’t have red food coloring, you can top with red candies or sprinkles, too. For those chocolate lovers: melt some chocolate chips and dip the treats into the melted chocolate.

It’s always nice to have new, simple ideas and recipes. This is one to add in your Rolodex with the crock pot and breakfast muffin recipes. Hope you enjoy this fun and easy treat this Valentine’s Day!
