Christmas is everywhere right now. The kids are soaking up everything Christmas they can find. Our family just purchased our first iPad, and whether at home or traveling, finding seasonal apps is something new and refreshing for kids. My kids are used to playing on my iPhone and are going to be thrilled playing apps on the iPad. While researching kid friendly apps I came into the Christmas section. There are so many kid friendly apps. You can choose from fun, trivia, learning, etc. Here are some of my favorites. I hope your kids enjoy them as much as mine.

Some Kid Friendly Apps

Free~ There are tons of free seasonal apps out there, which is what I recommend because your kids will only use them for a month or two. When going to the App Store search for free Christmas apps and browse for those your kids might like. There are games like puzzles, talking Santas, Santa’s village, and decorating trees. These are cheap, fun, and easy to download. Here are a few we like: Santa Claus Hair Salon, Christmas Tree, Hungry Santa, Sing Along Christmas Carols, and more.

Favorite characters~ Pretty much any kids’ movie, show, or game has a Christmas app of some sort. It might be Dora, Elmo, Toy Story, Barbie, or princesses. There is most likely an app that has the character or show singing Christmas songs, reading Christmas books, or playing Christmas games. If your child gets super excited about his favorite character this would be a fun app.

Santa Tracker~

NORAD Santa tracker is a free fun app to use on Christmas Eve. You can track Santa to know where he is currently flying, how long until his next destination, and how long until he comes to you. There are other Santa trackers you can find if you want something different. You can also use the Norad tracker online.

Elf or Grinch yourself~ If you are in the mood to be silly with your kids or want an activity from our 25 days of Christmas list, you can use the apps to elf yourself or Grinch yourself. This uses a picture of yourself on a cartoon body doing silly things. I like to tie it into watching the Christmas movies Elf and The Grinch Who Stole Christmas. Find these apps: ElfYourself, The Dr. Seuss Camera – Grinch Edition.

Santa Apps~ There are several apps out there where you can see live reindeer feed from The Reindeer Cam, tour Santa’s village, play games with Elves, and Santa himself. You can have Santa talk to your kids, give tours of his workshop, and give information on how Christmas night works. Check out the apps: Santa’s naughty or nice list, Super Santa Swing, Santa’s Reindeer Hunt, A Talking Santa 3D, and a few different Santa’s village apps.

Elf on the Shelf
~ There are tons of Elf on the Shelf games and apps you can download from the Elf on the Shelf. They use the Elves from the movies to play games, make music, fly, and dress up. My kids love playing with the apps after watching the beloved movie.

If you are looking for a few websites for a special visit from Santa, check out http://www.portablenorthpole.com/home , we use this every year and our kids love it. You can upload pictures from your family, give your town, and decide if your child is on the naughty or nice list. It’s very real and the kids will be amazed by it! There is also an app you can download from them called PNP game.I hope your kids enjoy these apps as much as ours do. There are some for all ages depending on what your kiddos like. I hope your family enjoys adding some fun to Christmas like ours does.
