I love baby showers. The games, the gifts, the cake… all of it! I always feel so honored to be invited to one and so I like to show up with a practical, fun gift for the new little one. There are items that are must-haves for every new mom, whether she has them on her registry or not. The tricky part of shopping for baby registry items (for me) is to find something useful that also has some significance. I want my gift to be helpful but also invoke the unique sweetness of a new baby. Here are my top 3 baby shower gift ideas:

3 Baby Shower Gift Ideas

Scrapbook sets: The best shower idea I’ve ever heard was to have guests bring scrapbook items that work for particular holidays, or events, in the first year of the baby’s life. So one guest may bring Christmas scrapbooking materials, and another may have items for the baby’s first birthday. The host of the party should provide the actual scrapbook and an organizational file or container to hold all the supplies that party-goers bring.

Clothing in larger sizes: Most moms will go out and buy a few newborn and 0 – 3 month size onesies before their due date in order to get in the mood for the new baby. Go ahead and buy clothing in the 6-month size and beyond. If you live in an area with varying climates, think ahead to what the weather will be like in the months that the baby will wear the size. It is perfectly appropriate to purchase coats, mittens and baby snow boots if your area calls for them!

Baby blankets and swaddling products:  The choices here are endless, but if you want to give a really thoughtful gift, hand pick these items. Baby Blankets offers some great things to include on your baby shower gift list or baby registry.  The Dottie Snuggle Blanket is unbelievably soft and can be personalized with the baby’s name or date of birth.  This cozy blanket has fun raised polka dot design that is cute and comfy, available in pink, blue and cream colors.  Aden + Anais Swaddling Wraps is also a perfect gift for a newborn.  This four pack of swaddling blankets are soft and durable and available in an array of colors and designs including: elephants, turtles, giraffes, flowers, polka dots and stars.  Another great baby blanket gift idea is the Personalized – Apple Park Blankie from the Picnic Pal Blankie Collection.  These blankies are organic and have lamb, duckling, bear or bunny around the edge of the blanket making this perfect for snuggling and playing.  An item to definitely add to your gift list is the Plush Monkey Magoo Gift Set, which includes a soft, cuddly pal for baby and a fleece blanket.  Baby Blankets make an excellent gift for showers or registry.
